We find out next week what we're having--boy or girl. What do you think? What should his/her name be?

Coming soon
to a family near you approximately around 10.20.2010.
If for some reason I have to schedule a C-section instead of the VBAC we're planning, it's totally happening on the due date!

Blake's birthday
We celebrated Blake's birthday the Saturday before the day. We all went to the zoo right at 9, when things are free. Isaac and Blake rode the carousel like 6 times and I took Isaac for his last run. Isaac did not want to leave that! We went to the children’s zoo and Isaac had lots of fun petting the goats (and hugging one—eww) and playing in the play area with the house and food and such. I surprised Blake in the afternoon by taking him to the boathouse at Forest Park and we rented a paddleboat for an hour. Isaac had a great time at first but after 25 minutes decided he was so done with the life jacket and sitting still thing. Blake got frustrated at me because I was helpless at steering. But I did do more than half the paddling because Isaac was being a Daddy’s boy. We played at the park a little longer and then went to Red Robin for Blake’s free birthday burger and sundae. It’s a great place to go with kids because they give them balloons and crayons but it makes Isaac feel like he owns the place so he doesn’t have to behave and sit still or anything.

On Blake's birthday he worked all day and got home after 6 and it was raining so we couldn't picnic like I'd planned. And his present, a Wii, didn't arrive until two days after the day. He is ecstatically happy about it and I'm still pouting that he bought one. But he did get a good dinner and help blowing out his candles.

Blake made me some awesome waffles and dinner for Mother's Day, but sorry, Blake, what I liked most of all was Isaac's poorly constructed card from nursery with his handprint on it. I love being Isaac's mom.

Naptime last Saturday
Isaac was sick last weekend. He screamed and kicked when I told him it was time for a nap but I knew he was probably exhausted. I stuck him in his crib and he was just frantic. I left the door ajar because I was going to let him cry for 5 minutes and then try to soothe him. I went into the bathroom to do my hair and two minutes later, I was scared out of my wits when Isaac walked in. He must have been so mad that he just flung himself over the side of the crib. He just wanted me to take him back to his room and be bounced and go to bed. The crib was on the second to lowest setting so that afternoon Blake moved it to the lowest.

Thank You
1. To the person driving through Forest Park who noticed that while I was putting Owen (babysitee) in the car on one side, Isaac walked into the street to get in on his side. Thank you for stopping. I know I didn't acknowledge it at the time, but I was hysterical so forgive me.
2. To the planners of Forest Park who not only designed an awesome park the perfect running distance from my house but also put in a free air station right by the playground just in case a mom with a jogging stroller got a flat tire even though she replaced the tube the day before. Great planning, guys!

It happened
My 6-year old dell laptop died.
Lovingly referred to as: The Desktop, Fattie, Lappy 500 (Blake's is Lappy 600).
It all has happened at little inconvenience to myself as Blake had to have a Seagate external hard drive for Christmas that automatically backs up your files. Even my journal entry from Sunday was saved.
I know it had its quirks: backspace didn't work, several keys were missing due to Isaac's exuberance, the speakers only worked if you plugged in some headphones, etc. But Lappy, we will always remember you. My first computer, a surprise gift from Pops left on the doorstep by UPS just in time for summer semester my second year of college. You have served us well.
And now Blake and I will have to fight over the Lappy 600. No more ignoring each other in the same room, each intent on our own blog/news article/hulu show. I guess one of us will have to read. or something.
Go buy yourself an automatic external hard drive.
