We celebrated Blake's birthday the Saturday before the day. We all went to the zoo right at 9, when things are free. Isaac and Blake rode the carousel like 6 times and I took Isaac for his last run. Isaac did not want to leave that! We went to the children’s zoo and Isaac had lots of fun petting the goats (and hugging one—eww) and playing in the play area with the house and food and such. I surprised Blake in the afternoon by taking him to the boathouse at Forest Park and we rented a paddleboat for an hour. Isaac had a great time at first but after 25 minutes decided he was so done with the life jacket and sitting still thing. Blake got frustrated at me because I was helpless at steering. But I did do more than half the paddling because Isaac was being a Daddy’s boy. We played at the park a little longer and then went to Red Robin for Blake’s free birthday burger and sundae. It’s a great place to go with kids because they give them balloons and crayons but it makes Isaac feel like he owns the place so he doesn’t have to behave and sit still or anything.
On Blake's birthday he worked all day and got home after 6 and it was raining so we couldn't picnic like I'd planned. And his present, a Wii, didn't arrive until two days after the day. He is ecstatically happy about it and I'm still pouting that he bought one. But he did get a good dinner and help blowing out his candles.
Blake made me some awesome waffles and dinner for Mother's Day, but sorry, Blake, what I liked most of all was Isaac's poorly constructed card from nursery with his handprint on it. I love being Isaac's mom.
